Sanitarian I
Reports To:
Sanitation Supervisor
Position Summary:
Sanitarian I; cleans some aspects of the bakery in compliance with the Master Sanitation Schedule including internal and external facilities, and other duties as needed. Sanitarian I progresses to level II depending upon experience, knowledge, mastery of their assigned duties and willingness to advance.
Primary Function:
- Responsible for cleaning some areas of facility as directed by Group Leaders and/or Supervisor.
- Responsible for maintaining cleaning logs as needed (for example, bathroom checklist).
- Reports signs of wear and tear, erosion, and bad or malfunctioning parts to the Sanitation Supervisor immediately.
- Reports supply needs to Group Leaders and/or Supervisor.
- Fills supplies in bathrooms, lunchrooms, and other areas of the facility as needed.
- Moves supplies, products or equipment as directed.
- Maintains a neat and orderly sanitation supply room.
- Complies with Company GMP standards.
- Complies with Company personal protective equipment (PPE) policy. Maintains Company-issued PPE. Reports wear and tear to Supervisor.
- Follows Company and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Participates in safety meetings.
- Maintains personal uniforms and reports any damages or wear to Supervisor.
- Respects and cares for company property including tools, lockers and equipment.
- Completes duties other than those stated above.
Education/Experience Desired:
- G.E.D. desired, but not required.
- Prior work in a cleaning environment, especially a bakery is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of company staff.
- Reading and writing in English desired, but not required.
- Mechanical inclination required to progress to next level.

Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Accountable for following food and personal safety guidelines.
- Member of Sanitation safety team.
- Accountable for completing safety training and quizzes as required.
- Represents regulatory compliance and food safety responsibility.
- Accountable for ensuring adherence to production GMP standards.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent bending;
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds (often overhead);
- Constant walking;
- Very frequent kneeling and/or squatting;
- Very frequent standing;
- Frequent talking;
- Continuous hearing;
- Very frequent pushing and pulling of bakery equipment.
- Frequent reaching and climbing;
- Close and distance vision required.
- Hand and eye coordination (dexterity) required.
Work Environment:
- Frequent loud to moderate noises;
- Extreme temperature fluctuations from very hot (up to 110° and high humidity) to freezer conditions (0° Fahrenheit).
